Welcome!

Thank you for choosing Southeastern Veterinary Specialty Center (SEVSC) for your surgical needs! Dr. Wayne Waguespack and his staff work tirelessly to provide advanced surgical care locally. We have compiled some information for you to answer any questions you may have and to help make this stressful time with your pet easier to navigate.

Fees/Estimates

The estimate for your pet’s surgery or procedure provided at the time of your first office visit includes the initial consultation fee to give you a complete overview of total cost.

The surgical fee paid DOES NOT include recheck exam fees and/or recheck post-operative radiographs. However, as a courtesy to our clients, surgical recheck exams and post-operative recheck radiographs are typically complimentary, which allows our doctor to follow surgical patients out to recovery and/or completion. This, however, is contingent on the fact that all post-operative instructions are followed correctly. Any additional or non-routine medications, radiographs, bandages, and/or sedation are the explicit responsibility of the owner. Southeastern Veterinary Specialty Center reserves the right to charge for recheck exams on a case-by-case basis.

Scheduling/Confirming Surgery for Your Pet

Elective surgeries and non-emergent surgeries/procedures are scheduled days to weeks in advance, typically at the time of the initial consultation.

ALL ELECTIVE SURGERIES/PROCEDURES ARE SUBJECT TO BEING POSTPONED DUE TO ANY POTENTIAL EMERGENCIES. WE ASK FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION DURING THESE UNFORESEEN SITUATIONS.

If your pet’s elective surgery/procedure were to be postponed, you will have the option of either boarding your pet at our facility at no additional cost to have surgery as soon as possible, or you may pick your pet up and bring your pet back the following morning between 7:30-7:45am Eastern.

Surgeries/procedures will be confirmed via phone call the day prior to your pet’s scheduled surgery and must be confirmed no later than 3:00pm Eastern to maintain the assigned surgery/procedure slot. Please note that Monday appointments will be called on Friday, and Thursday appointments will be called on Tuesday. If our office does not receive confirmation by 3:00pm Eastern, your pet’s appointment will be canceled. If you arrive WITHOUT having confirmed your pet’s appointment, we will NOT be able to accommodate your pet, and you will be asked to reschedule to another day.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT WALK-IN APPOINTMENTS.

On a typical day, surgeries/procedures are performed in the morning and appointments/consultations are seen in the afternoon. Drop-off appointments are available most days and your pet is required to be checked in between 7:30-7:45am Eastern and will be checked out between 5:00-5:30pm Eastern. There are infrequent occasions when morning appointments are available between 9:00-11:15am Eastern. These appointment times will be offered to you when available – if they are not offered, they are not available at that time.

After Surgery/Procedure

After surgery/procedure you will be called by reception and informed that your pet is awake and in recovery. Dr. Wayne Waguespack calls after hours to discuss surgery in detail, to ensure he can give each client his undivided attention and address any and all questions/concerns. If something does not go as expected during surgery or you need to be notified of something during surgery, Dr. Wayne Waguespack will call you directly during surgery.

Your pet will stay one night at SEVSC after surgery. The next morning, you will receive a phone call from Reception to inform you that your pet has been cleared for discharge. Discharge time is between 2:30am and 5:30pm Eastern, except on Saturdays when discharge is between 9:00am and 9:45am Eastern. Reception will set up a time for you to arrive between our available discharge hours. Please note that SEVSC does NOT board pets past their surgery discharge date; any other accommodations are SOLELY the owner's responsibility.

Scheduling/Confirming Rechecks for Your Pet

Recheck examinations are typically scheduled at the time of discharge from surgery or the previous appointment.

Recheck appointments will be confirmed via phone call the day prior to your pet’s scheduled appointment and must be confirmed no later than 5:00pm Eastern to maintain the assigned time slot. Please note that Monday appointments will be called on Friday, and Thursday appointments will be called on Tuesday. If our office does not receive confirmation by 5:00pm Eastern, your pet's appointment will be canceled. If you arrive WITHOUT having confirmed your pet’s appointment, there will be an exam fee charged.

All recheck examinations are subject to be 1-2 hours long; with a longer wait time expected if your pet’s appointment is complicated: bandage change, sedation needed, incisional issues, etc.

All recheck examinations can also be done with your referring/primary care veterinarian if you choose. Please contact your referring veterinarian with questions regarding their fees and available appointment times. If you choose to do recheck appointments with your referring/primary care veterinarian, SEVSC is not responsible for scheduling appointments or fees incurred/payments made at these facilities.
